Stryker Announces Election of New Director
KALAMAZOO, Mich., April 29, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Stryker Corporation (NYSE: SYK) announced an increase in the size of its Board with the election of Howard L. Lance as a member of its Board of Directors. Mr. Lance was elected along with the slate of the Company's seven current Directors nominated for re-election at the Annual Meeting of Shareholders held today.

Mr. Lance is currently Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer at Harris Corporation, an international communications and information technology company, which he joined in 2003. Previously he was President and Chief Operating Officer, Retail and Financial Group at NCR Corporation and also held various senior level management positions at Emerson Electric Co. Mr. Lance is also a director of Eastman Chemical Company, a worldwide manufacturer of chemicals.

John W. Brown, Chairman of the Board of Stryker Corporation, said, "We are delighted that Mr. Lance has joined our Board and look forward to his contributions. Howard's experience and expertise in leading a global high-tech organization will be particularly helpful to Stryker."

Mr. Lance earned his bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Bradley University and a master's degree in management from Purdue University.
