IMAX Release Demonstrates Strong Legs
LOS ANGELES, Jul 26, 2010 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) --IMAX Corporation (Nasdaq:IMAX) (TSX:IMX), Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures today announced that Inception, written and directed by Christopher Nolan ("The Dark Knight"), continued its strong performance during the second weekend in IMAX(R) theatres, generating $4.8 million on 197 IMAX screens domestically from Friday, July 23 through Sunday, July 25 for an estimated per-screen average of approximately $25,000. The film's domestic IMAX total has reached approximately $16.1 million.
The film also continued its strong IMAX performance internationally, generating more than $1.8 million from 52 screens, bringing the international IMAX total to approximately $3.2 million. The worldwide IMAX total reached approximately $19.2 million through its second weekend and is poised to cross the $20 million in worldwide IMAX gross box office milestone today.
