| FMC Corporation Elects Dirk A. Kempthorne to Board of Directors |
| PHILADELPHIA, May 4, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- FMC Corporation (NYSE: FMC) announced today that Dirk A. Kempthorne has been elected to the company's Board of Directors, effective April 28, 2009.
Appointed the 49th United States Secretary of the Interior in June 2006, Secretary Kempthorne, age 57, served in that capacity until January 2009. He served as the Governor of Idaho from 1999 until his appointment as Secretary of the Interior and was also a United States Senator representing the State of Idaho from 1993 to 1999. Secretary Kempthorne was mayor of Boise, Idaho, from 1986 to 1993. In addition to serving as a member of the Homeland Security Task Force, Secretary Kempthorne has also been chairman of the National Governors Association, chairman of the Western Governors Association and president of the Council of State Governments. With this election, Secretary Kempthorne becomes the ninth independent director on the FMC Board. William G. Walter, FMC chairman, president and chief executive officer, is the sole inside director.
