PASADENA, Calif., July 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jacobs Engineering
Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that its Singapore operations were
appointed by RohMax Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. (part of speciality chemicals
global market leader Degussa GmbH) to develop their first lubricant additive
manufacturing facility in Singapore's Jurong Island. This plant will also be
one of the largest of its kind globally per Degussa's official statement.
Officials did not disclose the contract value. Mechanical completion is
scheduled in the first half of 2008.
The new plant is to manufacture VISCOPLEX(R) brand of high performance
lubricant additive for use in automotive and industrial applications. It is
based on a two-stage batch process involving esterification and
polymerization. It comprises a tank farm for feedstock materials,
intermediates and by-products, a production unit, blending vessels for the
finished products, a truck filling station, and an administrative building.
Jacobs will provide engineering, procurement, and construction management
services from its Singapore office using local and Asia region resources.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Walter Barber
