| Sears Canada Brings the Wonder of the Antiques Roadshow(TM) to Sears Stores Nationwide |
TORONTO, Jun 2, 2006 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX News Network) -- Sears Canada Inc. (TSX: SCC) will be holding, for the third consecutive year, the Antiques Roadshow(TM) Furniture Collection by Pulaski event. The line is inspired by real antiques featured on the popular Emmy-nominated PBS(R) series, The Antiques Roadshow(TM). The event will be held at 20 select Sears department and Sears Home stores across the country during the months of June, July and August. Guests will have the opportunity to view pieces of the exclusive collection as well as participate in workshops. Customers will also have the chance to uncover their own potential treasures with free appraisals of jewellery, collectibles and more. "The Antiques Roadshow(TM) collection is extraordinary," says Jim Kelly, Executive Vice President of the Pulaski Furniture Corporation. "It's authentic furniture based on real antiques, real people and real stories about home furnishings. When you combine the quality and credibility behind such names as Sears and Pulaski, it is clearly a partnership that will lead to a successful niche in the Canadian home furnishings market." The Antiques Roadshow(TM) Collection offers antique adaptation furniture and accent pieces which come with their own special hangtag, featuring a photograph and history of the original antique from which it was inspired. Highlighted this year is the Ebony Carlton Manor Collection. The collection, which features a bedroom and dining room set and occasional furnishings, draws inspiration from 18th Century Britain, emphasizing the distinctly timeless elegance of the era, as well as superior functionality. The charming furnishings are scaled for today's homes, and have a new dark 'ebony' finish which is intriguingly deep, yet transparent. The finish reveals high quality woodgrain values showing the natural beauty of the furniture design, including its delicately turned legs, shaped skirts, columnar carvings and architectural feel. "We take great pride in providing our customers with a line of furniture that has exceptional design, quality and value. The Antiques Roadshow(TM) Event is an excellent opportunity for customers to come to Sears and see how we can provide home furnishings solutions to suit their style," says Chris Peters, General Merchandise Manager, Sears Canada Inc. "The Antiques Roadshow(TM) collection by Pulaski is part of one of the most unique trends in home design and furnishings. We are thrilled to have the event come to stores across Canada for the third consecutive year, as it allows consumers the opportunity to view the collection, and a chance to furnish their own homes with pieces that have style, value and meaning." Pulaski is one of the leading furniture manufacturers in the United States producing high quality furnishings for the home. The Antiques Roadshow(TM) television series features ordinary people who bring everything from family heirlooms to items they have picked up at tag sales on the show to be appraised, hoping their item has some historic or monetary value. The show is the most-watched primetime series on PBS(R), with nine million viewers every week. Antiques Roadshow(TM) is a trademark of the BBC and is produced for PBS(R) by WBGH/Boston. Produced under license from BBC Worldwide. Your purchase helps support public television. Sears Canada is a multi-channel retailer with a network of 188 corporate stores, 181 dealer stores, 65 home improvement showrooms, over 2,000 catalogue merchandise pick-up locations, 107 Sears Travel offices and a nationwide home maintenance, repair, and installation network.
