TORONTO, Mar 6, 2006 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX News Network) -- Sears Canada has been advised by one of its manufacturers of a potential hazard relating to the Mosquito Magnet(R) insect trap. Sears is issuing this notice to alert customers of a potential break and leak hazard. It has been discovered that the 'L' shaped adapter may leak or break apart during use, possibly striking and injuring nearby persons, or releasing pressurized carbon dioxide gas that may freeze exposed skin.

The Mosquito Magnet(R) was sold at Sears Canada retail stores as well as through the catalogue between January 2004 and December 2004 for $449.99 and $799.99. The affected model numbers are 3002mm and 4002mm. Product containing the affected adapter will show a date stamp of November, 30, 2003 or earlier. The Sears item numbers found on your receipt of sale are 30490 and 30491.

There have been 11 reports of incidents with the Mosquito Magnet(R), although there has never been a report of serious injury. Customers who have the affected Mosquito Magnet(R) should stop use immediately and contact the toll-free number 1-877-699-8727 or visit the website www.mosquitomagnet.com to receive a free replacement adapter. Catalogue customers will also be contacted by mail.
