| Sears Canada Issues Safety Notice for Stork Craft Toy Box |
TORONTO, Sep. 9, 2005 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX News Network) -- Sears Canada has been advised that the support that holds the lid up on a Stork Craft brand toy box could fail causing the lid to collapse suddenly, creating a potential strangulation hazard or possible injuries to a child's head, neck, fingers or hands. The toy box is made from solid wood and wood products and has a white finish. It is 32 inches wide, 16 1/2 inches deep and 18 inches high. It was manufactured between November 2002 and July 2004. The model number, located on a label underneath the toy box, is 01520 - 331. Although there have been no reported injuries, customers should immediately stop young children from using the toy box and contact Stork Craft to arrange to have a free replacement lid support sent to them by calling them toll-free at 1-877-274-0277 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. PT, Monday through Friday or through the firm's website at www.storkcraft.com. Sears Canada immediately pulled the item off sale and will be posting signs in all of its retail stores and sending letters to the appropriate catalogue customers to advise them of this recall. Sears Canada is a multi-channel retailer with a network of 122 full-line department stores, 217 off-mall stores, 62 home improvement showrooms, over 2,200 catalogue merchandise pick-up locations, 113 Sears Travel offices and a nationwide home maintenance, repair, and installation network.
