Sears Unveils New Expansion at Carrefour Laval
LAVAL, QC, Apr 9, 2009 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) -- Sears donates $5,000 to Opération Enfant Soleil

Sears Canada Inc. officially unveiled its new spacious 12,000 square foot furniture gallery and Sears Home Installed Products and Services (HIPS) showroom at its Carrefour Laval store north of Montreal. The new retail space was reclaimed from the former auto centre adjacent to the store and will offer the latest in appliances and furniture from top brands like Viking, Fisher Paykel and Kitchen Aid Professional.

"Sears has been proud to serve the Laval community with our department store since 1983," said Dennis Singh, Senior Vice-President, Retail Stores, Sears Canada. "With the store's new furniture and HIPS showroom, great assortment of new brands and services and our experienced and talented associates, we will be able to provide customers an even more positive shopping experience than they have ever had."

The addition of the new furniture gallery and HIPS showroom makes home renovation shopping easy for customers. "Our goal with the HIPS in-store integration is to provide a total solution for customers renovating kitchens and bathrooms", added Singh.

    The new 12,000 square foot showroom includes the following features,

Grand Opening Activities

Throughout the grand opening week, customers can register to win a Fisher Paykel Refrigerator, valued at $1,979.99. In addition, customers can enjoy a free 5 minute massage, live music, fashion shows and chocolate tasting with Lindt Chocolatier. Other activities include face painting and clowns for kids, refreshments and Hors d'Oeuvres and hourly draws for Butterball turkeys throughout the weekend.

As part of Sears commitment to the communities in which they do business, the newly renovated Laval store will donate $5,000 to Opération Enfant Soleil and will also donate furniture for "La maison enfant soleil".

Every year, the staff of all the Sears stores in Quebec support Opération Enfant Soleil by working hard to collect funds for sick children. Selling plush animals and candy, as well as tickets for "La maison enfant soleil", along with organizing various events are just some of the examples of fund-raising activities the Sears team is engaged in to help sick children in Quebec overcome their health problems.

Since the year 2000, Sears has collected more than $5 million dollars for Opération Enfant Soleil. In 2007 alone, $900,000 were handed over during the Opération Enfant Soleil telethon.

The Sears Carrefour Laval store is open Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00p.m. and Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
