| Sears Canada Advised by Elfe Juvenile Product Inc. of a Potential Safety Hazard relating to Simplicity(TM) 4 in 1 and 3 in 1 Deluxe Bedside Bassinet/Sleeper |

| TORONTO, Aug. 29, 2008 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX News Network) -- Sears Canada Inc. has been advised by Elfe Juvenile Product Inc. of a potential safety hazard relating to Simplicity(TM) 4 in 1 and 3 in 1 Deluxe Bedside Bassinet/Sleepers. It has been discovered that there is a potential risk for infants to become entrapped between the bassinet's metal bars, which may cause serious injury or death.
Three Simplicity(TM) 4 in 1 Deluxe Bedside Bassinet/Sleeper models and one Simplicity(TM) 3 in 1 Deluxe Bedside Bassinet/Sleeper were sold at Sears Canada retail stores as well as through the Sears Canada catalogue, and online at www.sears.ca between December 2003 to August 2008 from $157.00 to $199.99. The affected model numbers for the Simplicity(TM) 4 in 1 Deluxe Bedside Bassinet/Sleepers are 30450XFC, 3045DRMC, and 3040LAC. The corresponding Sears item numbers found on your receipt of sale are: 65413, 65101, and 65100. The affected model number for the Simplicity(TM) 3 in 1 Deluxe Bedside Bassinet/Sleeper is 3050SAR. The corresponding Sears item number on your receipt of sale is 65080. Model numbers are located directly underneath the bassinet. Elfe Juvenile Product Inc. has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada however; there have been two reported deaths in the US. In the interest of consumer safety, Sears Canada urges customers who continue to own one of the affected bassinets to stop using the units immediately, and contact Elfe Juvenile Products to receive your free repair kit by visiting their website at www.elfe.net or by calling 1-800-667-8184. Sears Canada will be posting signs in all of its department stores to advise customers of this safety recall.
