euroConex Named Merchant Acquirer of the Year; NOVA's European Affiliate Awarded at Cards International Global Award Event

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 1, 2006--NOVA Information Systems (NOVA), a wholly owned subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp (NYSE:USB), today announced that its European affiliate, euroConex, has been awarded the title of "Merchant Acquirer of the Year" at the Cards International Global Awards event held in Milan, Italy. The panel of judges cited the company's strong international expansion and high cross-border competence as the main drivers for the decision.

Ketil Fridheim, CEO, euroConex Nordic and head of European marketing, was present to accept the award. "I am immensely proud that euroConex was selected as Merchant Acquirer of the Year," commented Fridheim. The Cards International Global Award is an annual event. The award has been established by the international card industry, and the jury consists of an international panel of judges and commentators. Each year the winners are announced during the annual gala dinner, which this year took place in Milan.
