U.S. Bancorp Foundation Awards Grants to 17 Boulder, Colorado Groups

BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 14, 2006--Boulder area community groups were recently awarded more than $35,000 in grants by the U.S. Bancorp Foundation. Michael Noesen, president of U.S. Bank in Boulder, announced the affordable housing, artistic and cultural enrichment, human services, education, and economic opportunity grants. "U.S. Bank is proud to support these great nonprofit organizations that serve the Boulder community, said Noesen. "We are proud to be associated with them and encourage everyone to support our local nonprofits. These organizations and others add tremendous value to our economy and the overall quality of life in our community." Grants were awarded to the following non-profit groups:

  • Boulder County Foster-Adoptive Parent Association - to provide school supplies for children in foster care;


  • Boulder County RSVP Board, Inc. - for its "Safety Net" program where senior volunteers assist homebound seniors and disabled adults remain self-sufficient and live independently;


  • Boulder Shelter for the Homeless - to support its Transition Program that assists homeless adults gain a self-sufficient lifestyle;


  • Community Foundation Serving Boulder County - to support its Community Ventures program, an annual technical assistance seminar offered to nonprofit to help them strengthen their organizations and fund-raising capabilities. About 200 local nonprofit representatives attended the event.


  • Dairy Center for the Arts - to help The Dairy provide an affordable home for artists and art organizations, and encourage the appreciation and advancement of the arts in the Boulder area through programming, education, advocacy and outreach;


  • Family Learning Center - to support their program that help more than 35,000 low-income individuals become economically self-sufficient;


  • Foothills United Way - for support health and human service programs that improve the quality of life in Boulder;


  • Habitat for Humanity - to support its Banker's Build Day;


  • I Have a Dream Foundation - to provide mentoring and educational support for low-income, at-risk children to help them succeed;


  • Imagination Makers Theater Company - to support the production of two plays that will tour in area schools and help subsidize fees for low-income schools;


  • Impact on Education - to support the Students at Risk Program that develops high-impact, multi-year projects affecting all students;


  • Mental Health Center Serving Boulder and Broomfield Counties - to enhance its Chinook Clubhouse, a vocational rehabilitation program serving individuals with mental illness;


  • Parenting Place - to help the organization provide home visits, educational support groups and early childhood school readiness programs for parents and their children;


  • Peanut Butter Players - to support this children's theatre where children participate in after school classes, summer theatre workshops and musical productions;


  • The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art - to support Art Stop, a free, hands-on art program offered in conjunction with the Boulder County Farmers Market on the museum's front porch;


  • Thistle Community Housing - to support its affordable housing development programs; and


  • YWCA - to support their renovation the Children's Alley Infant Development Center.
