U.S. Bank's Bartram Named Chairman of National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (NAGGL)

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 25, 2006--David H. Bartram, president of U.S. Bank's SBA Division, has been selected chairman of the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (NAGGL).

NAGGL is a national trade organization comprising primarily lenders participating in the U.S. Small Business Administration's (SBA) 7(a) guaranteed loan program. NAGGL members originate approximately 80 percent of all 7(a) loans.

Bartram will serve as NAGGL chairman for the next three years, in addition to his position at U.S. Bank. He will work to strengthen the SBA lending industry's ability to provide capital to America's growing small businesses community. Through the 7(a) program, SBA lenders anticipate providing approximately $17 billion in loans to small businesses this year.

"Dave Bartram has provided leadership to NAGGL member companies virtually from our inception 22 years ago and our industry is very fortunate to have him as chairman in addition to his on-going responsibilities leading U.S. Bank's SBA Division," said Tony Wilkinson, president of NAGGL.

Bartram's prior service to NAGGL is extensive. He has served as vice chairman of both the government relations committee and the technical issues committee.

In 2005, U.S. Bank set new company SBA lending records based on both total loans and well as loan dollar volume providing $512.2 million in SBA guaranteed loans to 3,957 small businesses nationwide.

Headquartered in San Diego, U.S. Bank SBA Division currently operates 24 specially designated SBA Business Centers nationwide. U.S. Bancorp (NYSE:USB), parent company of U.S. Bank, is the 6th largest financial holding company in the United States with assets of $209 billion. The company operates 2,419 banking offices and 5,003 ATMs, and provides a comprehensive line of banking, brokerage, insurance, investment, mortgage, trust and payment services products to consumers, businesses and institutions.
