Literacy Gets a Lift with New National Council of Teachers of English Credit Card From U.S. Bank

MINNEAPOLIS & URBANA, Ill., Oct 26, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The National Council of Teachers of English, an organization focused on improving literacy and the use of the English language in the United States, has partnered with U.S. Bank to introduce the National Council of Teachers of English Visa(R) Platinum Card. The card generates support for the organization each time a new card is activated and repeatedly thereafter each time the card is used.

"A percentage of every purchase made on the NCTE Visa card will help promote our mission at no extra cost to the cardholder. Just by using this card, those who support our organization and its mission will help to advance the teaching, research, and student achievement in English language arts at all scholastic levels," said Kara Scanlon McKinn, director of membership development at NCTE.

The card depicts a modern take on the classic spiral notebook. Cardholders may choose the standard Visa Platinum Card, or one of two rewards programs, the Cash Rewards Visa Platinum Card or Select Rewards Visa Platinum Card.

"We're delighted to be a part of an organization that supports such an important and essential quality in our lives and our society - literacy," said Tanya Turner, senior vice president of affinity products at U.S. Bank. "We look forward to the valuable programs and opportunities that will come as a result of this new relationship."

To learn more about the new National Council of Teachers of English card or to receive an application call 800-853-5576, ext. 8628.
