Rutgers Alumni Have New Way to Support Their Alma Mater with New Rutgers University Credit Card from U.S. Bank

MINNEAPOLIS & NEW BRUNSWICK/PISCATAWAY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 31, 2005--Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, through its alumni federation, has created a new affinity credit card partnership with U.S. Bank that generates donations to Rutgers each time a new card is activated and again each and every time that card is used.

Alumni will be able to choose from four different card designs and offerings through this U.S. Bank partnership, including one that earns reward points that can be redeemed for gift certificates, merchandise, cash and travel rewards.

"Just by using the card, alumni will be supporting many successful alumni programs, such as class reunions, career services, the alumni web page, scholarships for alumni children who attend Rutgers and the university's academic goals and student initiatives," said Glenn Gnirrep, president of the Rutgers University Alumni Federation.

"We are pleased to partner with an institution with as much history and renown as Rutgers," said Tanya Turner, senior vice president of affinity products at U.S. Bank. "We look forward to building a long and successful relationship that supports the mission, programs and people at this fine university."

With more than 50,000 students on campuses in Camden, Newark, and New Brunswick/Piscataway, N.J., Rutgers is one of the nation's major state universities. Chartered in 1766, it has a unique history as a colonial college, a land-grant institution and a state university. Its 29 degree-granting units offer majors in over 100 fields and thousands of courses. The Rutgers University Alumni Federation strives to increase and strengthen alumni support for Rutgers.
