U.S. Bank Adds 333 ATMs at Walgreens in California and Nevada

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 13, 2005--U.S. Bancorp (NYSE:USB)

U.S. Bank is installing 333 ATMs at Walgreens drugstores in California and Nevada as a part of its continued growth in those states. The installation will be complete by June 2005.

"This is great news for our customers in California and Nevada who will now find it even more convenient to bank with U.S. Bank. Our partnership with Walgreens and this large scale deployment of ATMs is key to our growth in the West, particularly in California," said Mary Blegen, senior vice president of 24-hour banking at U.S. Bank.

The deployment of 312 ATMs in Walgreens locations in California nearly doubles the number of U.S. Bank ATMs to 684, in addition to its 306 branch offices in the state. The 21 ATMs going to Nevada Walgreens locations brings the total number of U.S. Bank ATMs in the state to 119. U.S. Bank has 40 branch offices in Nevada.

California counties that will see this ATM expansion include Alameda, Butte, Contra Costa, Fresno, Humboldt, Imperial, Kern, Los Angeles, Madera, Marin, Merced, Monterey, Orange, Placer, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, San Mateo, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Shasta, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tehama, Tulare, Ventura, Yolo and Yuba. The Nevada expansion will include Carson City, Reno, Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson.

The services customers can expect when they see the U.S. Bank sign in a Walgreens window include standard cash withdrawals, balance inquiries and funds transfers. They will also be able to order checks and copies of canceled checks, change their PINs and print statements. The ATMs will also feature bilingual screens and voice guidance for the visually impaired.

The ATMs will operate on a new Windows-based platform and will feature vibrant, attractive graphics and screen designs and an audio-assisted user experience via 'text-to-speech' technology. This platform, known as ProdigyATM(TM), provides the foundation for new features such as allowing ATM users to customize and save their personal "fast cash" preferences and true one-to-one messaging and marketing capabilities.
