U.S. Bancorp Honored by Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal as a Corporate Citizenship Award Winner for 2004

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 2, 2004--U.S. Bancorp (NYSE:USB) is being honored by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal as a 2004 "Corporate Citizenship" award winner for its successful, six year support of "A Brush With Kindness," a special program of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity. All of the honorees are featured in the Friday, Nov. 26 edition of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.

Each year hundreds of U.S. Bancorp employees and their friends and family put their passion, energy and commitment for the community into volunteering for this worthy cause that beautifies the homes of qualifying low-income people by performing exterior painting, landscaping and making minor repairs. Carol Edmand, an operations manager for the company's 24-hour banking and financial sales team, has successfully coordinated the company's employee volunteer efforts.

Between 2003 and 2004, under Edmand's direction, more than 1,500 company employees, friends and family members volunteered their time to paint and repair 60 homes. In addition, in 2003 and 2004, U.S. Bancorp was the local corporation with the most volunteers for A Brush With Kindness.

The positive impact of U.S. Bancorp's participation with A Brush With Kindness is appreciated by the Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity as well as the homeowners. "U.S. Bancorp is a key reason for the success of A Brush with Kindness," said Pat Lund, manager of A Brush With Kindness. "U.S. Bancorp has been a leader in supporting A Brush with Kindness from its inception in 1999, having helped 120 families remain living in a safe and decent home, with U.S. Bank volunteers giving their time to paint, repair and landscape homes throughout the Twin Cities."

"I am very proud of our employees who have volunteered for this worthy community program," said David Latta, market president for U.S. Bank in the Twin Cities. "Their efforts are symbolic of U.S. Bancorp's commitment to the communities where we operate. Stronger communities benefit everyone."
