U.S. Bank Named Banking Sponsor of Gonzaga University Athletics

SPOKANE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 20, 2004--U.S. Bank is the proud banking sponsor of Gonzaga University Athletics and has signed-on with the school's athletic program including men's and women's basketball games. Bob Wigren, president of U.S. Bank in Spokane/North Central Wash., made the announcement.

"This is a three-year deal that will run through June of 2007," said Wigren. "U.S. Bank is committed to the region. This sponsorship, as well as the U.S. Bank service and call center in Coeur d'Alene, are proof of this commitment."

In addition to the sponsorship of Gonzaga athletics, U.S. Bank is the bank partner for the school's multi-use identification card that allows the school's more than 4,800 students and 850 faculty and staff members to buy meal plans, check out resources from campus libraries and make purchases at various on-campus merchant locations. The card can also be used as a U.S. Bank ATM card on and off campus and at many Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals in the United States.

Gonzaga University is a private, four-year comprehensive university. It is owned and operated by the Society of Jesus, the Jesuit order of the Catholic Church. Gonzaga's educational philosophy is based on the 450-year Ignatian model that aims to educate the whole person -- mind, body and spirit -- an integration of science and art, faith and reason, action and contemplation. At Gonzaga, "cura personalis," or care for the individual, is its guiding theme.
