U.S. Bank Kicks-Off New Year at SDSU with New Branch and Back to School Week Activities

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 24, 2004--U.S. Bancorp (NYSE:USB)

U.S. Bank support of San Diego State University is bigger and better than ever in 2004, most visibly with the opening of a new U.S. Bank branch office at West Commons. A ribbon cutting ceremony will mark the opening on Thursday, Aug. 26 at 1 p.m.

The celebration will continue as activities begin surrounding the start of the 2004-05 academic year. U.S. Bank will provide water to students as they arrive and move in to their new housing on Aug. 27.

U.S. Bank backs the SDSUcard, which is the official identification for more than 40,000 students, faculty and staff. The multi-purpose card provides, among other things, access to any U.S. Bank ATM for those who have a U.S. Bank account. U.S. Bank volunteers will be opening accounts outside of the SDSUcard office through Sept. 2 as students are getting their cards. U.S. Bank is also home to Aztec Checking and anyone who opens an account at the U.S. Bank table outside the card office will receive free Aztec checks and a U.S. Bank/SDSU t-shirt.

Tony Gwynn, famed San Diego Padres baseball player and now coach of SDSU Aztec baseball, will sign autographs on Sept. 2 at 2 p.m. and give away tickets to the Sept. 4 Aztec football opener and Sky Show. The Sky Show, considered San Diego's premier fireworks display, will take place at Qualcomm Stadium after the game. Tickets to the game and Sky Show are free to students who stop by the branch to pick them up during move-in week and the first week of classes (through Sept. 2). U.S. Bank is once again proud to sponsor Aztec football, basketball and baseball for 2004-05.

U.S. Bank will also offer special promotions in the branch Sept. 7 through Sept. 10, including a prize wheel, refreshments, giveaways and a chance to win a 90-second ATM cash grab. Two winners will have 90 seconds to withdraw as much cash as they can from the U.S. Bank ATM. Those who open an account during Sept. 7-10 will receive a $10 SDSU Bookstore Gift Card.

"The activities surrounding our new branch opening and welcoming of the new academic year complement an already strong relationship between U.S. Bank and SDSU. It's a relationship we are honored to be a part of and excited to support in every way possible," said Robert Armstrong, market president of U.S. Bank in San Diego.
