MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 5, 2004--Thirty-three homes in
Minneapolis and St. Paul will get spruced-up when more than 1,100 U.S.
Bancorp employee volunteers participate in the annual summer event A
Brush With Kindness. Volunteer crews will paint homes on Saturday,
August 14 from 8 a.m. until approximately 4 p.m.
"U.S. Bancorp employee volunteers will 'adopt' the homes by
painting them and making minor repairs for low-income homeowners,"
said David Latta, Twin Cities market president, U.S. Bank. "This is
the sixth year U.S. Bancorp employees have volunteered to help out
neighborhoods through this special program with Habitat for Humanity."
U.S. Bancorp has the most corporate volunteers and teams for this
year's A Brush With Kindness. More than a dozen companies are
participating in the Twin Cities this year.
"We're excited that once again, U.S. Bancorp employees will
volunteer their time and energy and make area homes look nicer," said
Pat Lund, manager of A Brush With Kindness. "More than 85 homes have
been painted by U.S. Bancorp employee volunteers through this program
in the past five years."
A Brush With Kindness, a special program of Twin Cities Habitat
for Humanity, is a volunteer program that transforms neighborhoods by
assisting qualifying low-income homeowners in their efforts to live
independently and securely in their homes. It works in cooperation
with neighborhood associations, churches and businesses to target
specific blocks that can most benefit from a concentrated effort to
beautify and improve the quality of the homes. Volunteer crews "adopt"
specific homes where they do exterior painting, landscaping and make
minor exterior repairs. Homeowners work alongside the volunteer crews.
