U.S. Bancorp Foundation Awards More Than $100,000 in Education Grants to Twin Cities Community Groups

MINNEAPOLIS, Jul 21, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Thirteen non-profit organizations in the Minneapolis and Saint Paul area are receiving a total of more than $100,000 in contributions from the U.S. Bancorp (NYSE:USB) Foundation.

"U.S. Bancorp is honored to support the education programs of these nonprofit organizations," said Teresa Bonner, director of the U.S. Bancorp Foundation. "An educated community provides a higher caliber labor force for businesses and helps communities grow and thrive."

The U.S. Bancorp Foundation is awarding education grants to the following Twin Cities community groups:

    --  Admission Possible - for general operating support;

    --  BestPrep - to assist with its Business Venture and Classroom
        Plus program;

    --  Boys and Girls Club of the Twin Cities - to provide funding
        for its education and career development programs;

    --  Citizens League - for general operating support;

    --  Cookie Cart Learning Center - for general operating support;

    --  Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest, Inc. - for general
        operating support;

    --  MAP for Nonprofits - for general operating support;

    --  Minneapolis Public Schools #1 - to help with its North High
        Career Center;

    --  Minnesota Private College Fund - to provide U.S. Bancorp
        Foundation Scholarship support;

    --  Science Museum of Minnesota - for general operating support;

    --  Seed Daycare, Inc. - for general operating support;

    --  Summit Academy OIC - to provide funding for its job training
        and placement program; and

    --  YWCA of Minneapolis - for its Savvy Girls' workshop.
