U.S. Bank will open a third round of branch offices in Safeway
stores in California on Monday, June 7 as part of its on-going
expansion into a total of 163 Safeway, Vons and Pavilions locations in
California, Arizona and Nevada by the end of 2005. As part of the
celebration, U.S. Bank and Safeway will kick-off the "Go for the
Grand" promotion in which customers have a chance to win a prize of

-- Dewey Drive Safeway located at 5450 Dewey Drive in Fair Oaks;
-- Prairie City Road Safeway located at 1850 Prairie City Road in
-- Folsom Boulevard Safeway located at 10635 Folsom Blvd. in
-- East Cypress Avenue Safeway located at 1070 East Cypress

To celebrate the openings, U.S. Bank and Safeway are offering
customers a chance to win $10,000 in a "Go for the Grand" contest.
People can register to win at U.S. Bank branches in participating
Safeway locations June 7 through July 24 (branches opening later in
June will begin accepting entries when they open). On July 26, each
branch location will randomly select ten finalists who will have the
opportunity to win $10,000 at a special event in August.
At the event, U.S. Bank and Safeway will provide each of the ten
contestants with a list of seven items sold at Safeway. Contestants
will be asked to arrange the items on the list so they match a
confidential, pre-determined "official" Safeway shopping list. If a
contestant's list matches the official Safeway shopping list, the
contestant will be awarded $10,000. All ten finalists at each location
will receive a $100 Safeway Gift Card. Contest rules and regulations
are available at participating locations.

total of 163 new in-store branches in Safeway and Vons stores in
Arizona, California and Nevada. This is the largest in-store expansion
