David Bartram Re-Elected to Board of Directors of National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders

SAN DIEGO, Dec 12, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- U.S. Bancorp (NYSE:USB)

David Bartram, president of U.S. Bank SBA Division, has been re-elected to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (NAGGL) for 2004.

NAGGL is a national trade association that serves approximately 580 banks, non-bank lenders and other firms that utilize the Small Business Administration (SBA) 7-a small business lending program. Additionally, Bartram will continue his service as vice chair of NAGGL's Governmental Relations committee.

During his 11 years on NAGGL's board, Bartram has implemented an extensive and comprehensive grassroots governmental relations program that involves many U.S. Bank employees and those of other lenders as well. The effort resulted in increased awareness of the benefits of the 7-a program among United States elected representatives and other policy makers during 2003.

"SBA loans are an increasingly important part of what U.S. Bank offers our small business customers and David Bartram's national leadership in this industry is very valuable, not only to U.S. Bank, but to small businesses everywhere," said Kent Stone, executive vice president of small business at U.S. Bank. "We're proud of David, proud of his accomplishments and the great work that's done by his SBA team every day," Stone added.

Through its SBA Division, U.S. Bank is one the nation's leading SBA lenders, having provided $535.9 billion in SBA loans to 1,793 small businesses nationwide during the SBA's fiscal year 2003. U.S. Bank SBA Division, which is based in San Diego, operates 27 SBA Business Centers serving 24 states.
