U.S. Bank Offers Visa Gift Card Through Its 2,201 Branches - Perfect Gift for Any Occasion and Just in Time for the Holidays

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov 25, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- U.S. Bank has introduced the Visa(R) Gift Card, the latest in a line of convenient payment options available from U.S. Bank that can be used wherever Visa debit cards are accepted for anything from clothes to music, movie tickets to dinner.

The cards are perfect for anyone age 13 or older and for any occasion. The Visa Gift Cards are available for purchase in denominations ranging from $25 to $500. The Visa Gift Card carries the benefits of a Visa card including the ability to replace lost or stolen cards. Plus, since it is a prepaid card and not a credit card, there's no risk of running into debt.

"We all know how hard it can be to buy a gift for that friend who has everything or that teenager whose likes and dislikes are completely unknown," said Patricia Wesner, executive vice president of U.S. Bank Retail Payment Solutions. "The Visa Gift Card can be used at almost any merchant and online so shoppers no longer have to worry about buying the wrong gift or a gift certificate for the wrong store. We're sure that it will be a big hit this holiday season or for any other occasion."

The Visa Gift Card, available to U.S. Bank account holders as well as non-account holders, can be purchased at any U.S. Bank branch. Unlike store gift cards, the Visa Gift Card can be used everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted. As an added value an all occasion greeting card is included in the $4.99 gift card purchase price. The card can be funded with cash, a debit or credit card or a U.S. Bank account. The Visa Gift Card is also a convenient option for businesses, nonprofit organizations or other groups looking to provide gifts or rewards to their employees or members during the holidays or anytime of year.

U.S. Bank has seen tremendous success with its other prepaid, stored value cards including Visa Buxx, Secure Money Transfer, ReliaCard and AccelaPay. The Visa Buxx card, which has been available since August 2000, is a reloadable card for teens that makes dispersing allowances more convenient and teenage shopping safer. Secure Money Transfer makes sending money to Mexico faster, easier and more reliable. ReliaCard, available in Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota and Washington, speeds the distribution of state-ordered child support payments and saves states money. ReliaCard is also available in Oregon for unemployment disbursements. AccelaPay is a convenient payroll option provided by participating companies for employees who do not have direct deposit established with their employer.
