U.S. Bancorp to Hold Conference for Minnesota Nonprofits; Leaders of Local Nonprofit Community to Discuss Leadership in Times of Dramatic Change

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov 14, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- To help Minnesota's nonprofit sector address the turbulent changes caused by funding cuts and increased needs for service, U.S. Bancorp is hosting a half-day conference for a convened group of nonprofit and community leaders.

U.S. Bancorp has invited all Minnesota nonprofit executives and trustees to gather at the Minneapolis Convention Center Tuesday, Nov. 18 for the conference "Leading in Times of Dramatic Change." The conference is funded by U.S. Bancorp with co-sponsorship by MAP for Nonprofits, The Minneapolis Foundation, Minnesota Community Foundation, Minnesota Council of Nonprofits and The Saint Paul Foundation. It is being provided at no cost to attendees as a service to the entire community.

"We want to provide a forum where leaders of Minnesota's nonprofit community can gather together to gain fresh perspectives as they tackle tough issues," said Teresa Bonner, director of the U.S. Bancorp Foundation. "Community-based, nonprofit organizations provide services that are key to the quality of life in our area. Changes affecting the community affect all of us."

The half-day conference will feature futurist and author Carolyn Corbin. Corbin, president of the Center for the 21st Century and author of Great Leaders See the Future First: Taking your Organization to the Top in Five Revolutionary Steps (Dearborn Trade Publishing), is frequently sought by charities and corporations. Following Corbin's keynote address, local leaders will bring a Minnesota perspective to trends and changes affecting the community. The seminar concludes with leading Minnesota experts and interactive small groups that will tackle the leadership challenges presented by a hypothetical Minnesota nonprofit organization.
