U.S. Bank Announces Wildfire Damage Assistance Program

SAN DIEGO, Oct 31, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- U.S. Bank (NYSE:USB) has established a special financial assistance program to aid residents and businesses suffering damages from the recent wildfires in Southern California. The wildfire damage assistance program will include special home equity loans, personal loans and small business loans.

Also, U.S. Bank has deployed one of its mobile ATM units to the Scripps Ranch Recreation Center at 11454 Blue Cypress Drive so that customers and non-customers alike can have easy access to their cash.

Judie Verb, senior vice president of U.S. Bank, said, "As a member of the community, it is our responsibility to make sure that we are ready to help people when they are in need. In the wake of the wildfire's devastation and the tremendous damage it has caused, we want people to know that they can turn to us for assistance. Our first concern is for the people of the area, our customers, employees and others and how we can lend a hand during this unfortunate time."

In an effort to provide assistance to our neighbors who have been affected by the recent fires, U.S. Bank has developed a special relief program to help our community rebuild and recover. U.S. Bank's wildfire damage assistance program is for any consumer affected by the fires in the Southern California area. U.S. Bank's home equity loans will have a rate of 2.99 percent APR, for the first six months of the loan and then will shift to a prime plus zero percent rate or 4.00 percent APR.

Additionally, U.S. Bank Home Mortgage will offer special reconstruction home loans and can be reached at 1-866-292-0136 or go to any U.S. Bank branch for more information.

To benefit from this special U.S. Bank wildfire damage assistance program, interested individuals or small businesses should go to any U.S. Bank branch in Southern California or call 1-888-444-B-A-N-K, extension 700, 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

U.S. Bank will employ its standard credit qualification procedures for all loan requests in the wildfire damage assistance program. To participate in the wildfire damage assistance program consumers or small business owners should have proof of damage, such as insurance forms, estimates of repair costs or other documentation.
