U.S. Bancorp Ranked on LATINA Style 50; Prominent Latina Business Publication Recognizes Company's Diversity Best Practices

MINNEAPOLIS, Sep 29, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- U.S. Bancorp (NYSE:USB) was recognized in the annual "LATINA Style 50," a special report by LATINA Style magazine honoring the top 50 companies providing the best professional opportunities for Latinas in the United States. The report is a result of an extensive search involving more than 600 of the most respected corporations. This is the magazine's sixth annual national evaluation of corporate America's sensitivity to Latinas' needs and goals in the workplace.

U.S. Bancorp received an honorable mention for its overall efforts to create a positive work environment for Latinas and specifically was cited for its generous continuing education reimbursement program and alternative work schedules.

"A core value of U.S. Bancorp is to support the development of our employees by helping them to find balance while encouraging them in reaching their full potential," said Jennie Carlson, executive vice president and director of human resources at U.S. Bancorp. "U.S. Bancorp is proud and honored to be recognized by LATINA Style, as we continue to expand the diversity of our workforce by adding high caliber employees, such as those in the Latina community."

The annual report is billed as the most respected survey of corporate America's policies and practices as they pertain to professional Hispanic women. Companies responding to LATINA Style's questionnaire were evaluated based on the issues that the magazine's readers have identified as most important to them in the workplace such as number of Latina executives, availability of mentoring programs, alternative work policies and Hispanic relations.

LATINA Style will recognize U.S. Bancorp at an annual award ceremony early next year in Washington, D.C.
