U.S. Bancorp Foundation Awards Grants to Twin Cities Community Groups

MINNEAPOLIS, Aug 20, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Eleven non-profit organizations in the Twin Cities are receiving a total of more than $115,000 in contributions from the U.S. Bancorp (NYSE:USB) Foundation. "These organizations make a major contribution to our quality of life and the future of our community through their work for children and education," said Teresa Bonner, director of the U.S. Bancorp Foundation.

The U.S. Bancorp Foundation is awarding grants to the following Twin Cities nonprofit organizations:

    --  Admission Possible, for general operating support which will
        assist the organization with helping high-potential,
        low-income high school youth in Minneapolis and St. Paul;

    --  BestPrep, to support its Stock Market game, Minnesota Business
        Venture and Classroom program, one program that provides
        business and economic literacy education to students
        throughout Minnesota;

    --  Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities, for the Clubs'
        Education and Career Development Programs in Minneapolis and
        St. Paul which enables all young people, especially those from
        disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential;

    --  Citizens League, for general operating support that allows
        this community and civic advocate for change to conduct
        research studies and present its findings to the public;

    --  Cookie Cart, for general operating support which will help
        provide lessons to youth in order to assist them in developing
        into tomorrow's workers and leaders;

    --  Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest, Inc., for general
        operating support which helps the organization educate and
        inspire young people to value free enterprise, business and
        economics to improve the quality of their lives;

    --  North Community High School's Career Center, which develops
        work-ready youth who have the necessary skills to succeed in
        life-long learning and the workplace;

    --  Minnesota Private College Fund, to help support a scholarship
        program which assist the MPCF in creating and developing
        mutually beneficial relationships between the private sector
        and the Fund's member colleges and universities;

    --  Minnesota Zoo Foundation, for general operating support which
        will help fulfill its education programs, community outreach
        and world-wide conservation efforts;

    --  Pacer Center, to support programs that enhance the quality of
        life for children and young adults with disabilities and their
        families;

    --  Science Museum of Minnesota, for general operating support to
        assist in providing quality science education to learners of
        all ages; and

    --  Seed Daycare, Inc., for general operating support to help
        provide a framework of African-American culture, values,
        achievements arts and culture to the children enrolled in its
        preschool.
