U.S. Bank Jumps to Second Place in Speer & Associates Ranking of Internet Banking Sites

MINNEAPOLIS, Mar 12, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Speer & Associates, Inc. (S&A) has recognized usbank.com, home of U.S. Bank Internet Banking, second among financial institutions in its annual ranking of retail Internet offerings deployed by leading financial institutions in the Western Hemisphere. The ranking moves U.S. Bank up 15 places from last year's position.

S&A praised usbank.com for its "added meaningful business development capabilities, such as intuitive account naming to its online banking product offering." The group's report also commended the site's multilingual capability, online banking demonstration and the ability of the user to request copies of statements and checks online.

The group was also pleased with the addition of a question and answer section for seven major product lines, Certificate of Deposit (CD) access, the ability to apply online and the ability to track account openings. S&A said in its report, "The wide breadth of applications makes this site both useful and informative."

Sites were evaluated on business development practices and transactional capabilities. The U.S. Bank site was rated first in transactional capabilities with a score of 4.63, and sixth in business development practices with a score of 4.63. The highest possible score for both categories is 5.0.

"Each day, U.S. Bank employees strive to provide Five Star Service to our customers, and part of that service includes a high-quality Web site," says Linda Garner, Information Delivery Services. "Employees across the company have been diligently working to improve usbank.com, adding new benefits and services, increasing ease-of-use, and making the site an easy way to fulfill customer banking needs. We're happy that S&A recognized the value we're providing to our customers."

The move is another step in a continual climb of usbank.com national rankings. Most recently, Gomez, an Internet quality measurement group, ranked U.S. Bank ninth in its Q3 2002 Internet Banker Scorecard, which represented a five-step move up from its previous ranking of fourteenth.
