U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray Hosts Annual Technology and Communications

Conference August 6, 7 and 8 in Boston

BOSTON, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In an effort to provide investors with tools to navigate through the difficult conditions facing the equity markets, U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray will host its annual Technology & Communications Conference August 6, 7 and 8 at the Seaport Hotel in Boston. The conference will feature management presentations from more than 175 of the industry's highest-profile technology and communications companies.  The presentations will address issues of importance to the institutional investor community, including current industry trends and individual company performance results.

This year's conference will feature two exciting keynote luncheons.  Nokia Corporation Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jorma Ollila will address conference attendees at a keynote luncheon at noon eastern time on Wednesday, August 7.  Ollila has been the driving force in transforming Nokia, a company that once made paper and rubber, into a leading supplier of wireless communications equipment.

In addition, at noon eastern time on Tuesday, August 6, U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray CEO Andrew Duff will address the audience with opening remarks and moderate a panel discussion entitled Strengthening the Chain of Trust -- One Link at a Time.  This lively discussion will focus on corporate governance issues, changes in the accounting sector and Wall Street, implications of recent legislation and imperatives to restoring investor confidence. While the technology and communications sectors have continued to face extremely challenging conditions over the last two years, we believe it is more important than ever to provide our clients with direct access to leading companies within these industries, said Robert W. Peterson, head of equity research at U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray.  We expect many of the companies presenting at our conference will offer investors insight into their growth plans to capitalize on a demand recovery.
