U.S. Bank to Celebrate Unique Small Businesses with $5,000 Giveaways

The bank is partnering with radio stations across the country to showcase small business

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 6, 2012-- U.S. Bank is inviting small business owners in 12 cities across the country to share why their business is unique for a chance to win $5,000 in radio advertising for their business and $5,000 for a charity of their choice.

The contest runs through Sunday, August 19, in Boise, Cincinnati, Denver, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Omaha, Portland, Sacramento, Seattle and St. Louis.

In addition to the grand prize of radio advertising for their business and a charity of their choice, small business owners are eligible to win a monthly prize: lunch for their office, catered by popular local restaurants.

“Although small business owners have been concerned about the economy, the silver lining is that tough times have inspired tremendous innovation and creativity,” said Rick Hartnack, vice chairman of consumer and small business banking at U.S. Bank. “This contest is a great way for U.S. Bank to support small business, in addition to our commitment to community involvement and our suite of specialized small business banking products.”

Small business lending at U.S. Bank is up 3.8 percent as of the second quarter of 2012 compared with the same period last year across the bank’s 25-state footprint.

In the 2012 U.S. Bank Small Business Survey, conducted between March and April 2012 in the 25 states where U.S. Bank provides small business banking services, most small business owners said that they still thought the economy was in a recession, many said their business was doing well. Overall, 69 percent of respondents said the financial health of their business was “good,” “very good” or “excellent,” up from 64 percent in 2011.
