Two future hip-hop stars from San Juan Hills High School in San Juan
Capistrano, Calif., are the first-place winners in the U.S. Bank
“Lights, Camera, Save” video contest.
Leo Moneymaker, 15, and Alex Colucci, 17, created the “Save
Song” about the benefits of saving and the danger of carrying too
much debt, which they performed as “Young Muny & Lil Savings.” As a
result, they won a $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond from U.S. Bank and an entry
in the national competition for a $3,000 U.S. Savings Bond from the
American Bankers Association Education Foundation.
The second place winner from U.S. Bank was “Money
Tree” from Ricardo Zaldivar, 18, in Fort Wayne, Ind., who will
receive a $500 U.S. Savings Bond. Third place went to “Nest
Egg” submitted by Marion ‘Maggie’ Gilson, 15, in Boise, Idaho, who
will receive a $250 U.S. Savings Bond.

“Lights, Camera, Save” encourages youth between the ages of 13-18 to use
the power of video to communicate the value of saving and inspire others
to become lifelong savers. Contestants were asked to illustrate the
value of saving money and record it in a 60-90 second video. The winners
of the American Bankers Association Education Foundation’s national
contest will be announced in the spring.
