COLUMBUS, Ohio, Mar 01, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- U.S. Bank (NYSE: USB) has donated $1,050,000 to The Ohio State University (OSU). In honor of their generosity, U.S. Bank will receive name recognition on the new Ohio Union's conference theater when it opens on Monday, March 29, 2010. The 2,508 square foot U.S. Bank Conference Theater can accommodate up to 300 people for lectures and special events that will be held for students, community members and OSU alumni. The Theater features a digital projector to allow for screenings of first-run movies.

It is especially fitting that U.S. Bank, which was founded in Ohio in 1863, will join us, because the building is a standing celebration of all that makes our state so special," said Tracy Stuck, assistant vice president for student life and director of the Ohio Union. "The Union serves as the 'living room' for The Ohio State University by providing a space for guests to meet, dine, relax, study, and enjoy entertainment."

The donation by U.S. Bank includes not only a gift to the Ohio Union but also endowment funding to benefit the University's more than 900 student organizations. The gift to OSU will be disbursed through 2013, with U.S. Bank's name recognized on the theater for 25 years.
U.S. Bank also plans to open a new, full-service office at the front entrance of the Union, located at 1739 North High Street, to cater to Ohio State students, faculty and the community. It will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. with branch hours on Saturdays. At the new office, students can open a free checking account with cash back rewards, receive free Internet Banking and free Bill Pay along with no ATM fees for withdrawals at a U.S. Bank ATM or any ATM linked to the MoneyPass network. Sceva said that those concerned about keeping track of where they stand on their account can receive a text or email message when their balance reaches a certain amount.
In addition, U.S. Bank will have four ATMs placed throughout the new Ohio Union.
