U.S. Bank Offers Special Checking Account Benefits to Members of the U.S. Armed Forces

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May. 22, 2009-- In recognition of the service provided by members of the armed forces, U.S. Bank is offering Military Benefits, a checking account program designed exclusively for members of the U.S. military, including active duty, reserve, retired and veterans.

Armed forces members who sign up for Military Benefits with a qualified U.S. Bank checking account will receive free ATM transactions at all ATMs, including non-U.S. Bank ATMs. (Other banks may charge a fee for transactions on a non-U.S. Bank ATM.) Military Benefits customers will also get an interest-bearing checking account, free checks and free money orders, traveler’s checks and cashier’s checks. There is no minimum balance or monthly maintenance fee on checking accounts with Military Benefits.

“The men and women who serve our country through the armed forces do so much to protect our freedoms and liberty we enjoy here in the United States,” said Rick Hartnack, vice chairman of consumer banking at U.S. Bank. “We’re pleased to offer Military Benefits as a gesture of gratitude for their service.”

The Military Benefits package is available with a U.S. Bank Five Star Platinum Checking account or an Elite Checking account, and it can be applied to individual and joint accounts.

To open a U.S. Bank checking account with Military Benefits, members of the armed forces should visit any U.S. Bank branch or call 1-800-USBANKS.
