MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Apr. 27, 2009--
U.S. Bank is now accepting nominations for the fifth annual U.S. Bank
Five Star Volunteer Awards, a program which honors the extraordinary
volunteer work of its 58,000 employees and supports local nonprofits.
Through the Five Star Volunteer Award program, U.S. Bank will recognize
more than 100 employees who provide exceptional volunteer service to a
nonprofit organization in their community. In addition to providing
recognition for each employee who receives the award, U.S. Bank will
award the nonprofit up to $1,000 in honor of the employee.
“Volunteerism plays a key role in helping our communities thrive, and
we’re proud that so many of our own employees volunteer for local
organizations,” said John Pacheco, director of the U.S. Bancorp
Foundation. “The U.S. Bank Five Star Award program provides a great
opportunity for us to pay tribute to the extraordinary volunteer efforts
of our employees who dedicate their personal time, talent and energy to
the causes that mean the most to them.”
To nominate a U.S. Bank employee for a Five Star Volunteer Award,
request a nomination form by sending an e-mail to fivestarvolunteer@usbank.com.
The nomination deadline is May 15, 2009, and the winners will be
announced in third quarter of 2009.
U.S. Bank supports its employee volunteer efforts through a number of
ways in addition to the Five Star Volunteer Award. The company allows
all eligible employees eight hours of paid time off each year to
volunteer in their community, and U.S. Bank employees participate in
community outreach activities organized through the company’s 55 local
employee-led Development Network chapters.
