U.S. Bancorp will recognize more than 100 employees who provide exceptional volunteer service to a nonprofit organization in their community. In addition to company recognition, U.S. Bancorp will award the nonprofit up to $1,000 in honor of the employee. The U.S. Bank Five Star Volunteer Award winners will be announced third quarter of 2008.

"U.S. Bancorp employees from all across our company contribute countless hours of their personal time, talent and effort to the causes that mean a lot to them," said Deborah Burke, director of the U.S. Bancorp Foundation. "The Five Star Volunteer Award program is a way for us to honor the hard work and dedication of our employee volunteers who help make our communities thrive."

In addition to the Five Star Volunteer Awards, U.S. Bancorp also encourages its employees to volunteer through its Five Star Volunteer Day program. Introduced this year, Five Star Volunteer Day gives all eligible U.S. Bancorp employees 8 hours of paid time off each year to volunteer in their community at organizations such as nonprofit or civic agencies and schools.
