SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 23, 2007--U.S. Bank is collecting
school supplies for children of military families through all of its
40 U.S. Bank locations in San Diego County now through Aug. 8. The
drive is in support of Operation Homefront, a nonprofit organization
that provides a broad base of support for families whose loved ones
are serving their country on deployment.
This is the second year that U.S. Bank employees have collected
school supplies for Operation Homefront. Last year, the bank collected
10,000 items, which it expects to surpass this year.
"So many people want to do whatever they can to support our
troops, so we are taking what was a tremendously successful event for
our employees last year and making it something that U.S. Bank
employees and customers can do together," said John Zygowicz,
president of U.S. Bank in San Diego.
Donated items will be distributed to pre-registered families from
10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on August 11 at the Murphy Canyon Chapel, 3495 Santo
Road in San Diego and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on August 12 at Saturn
West 78, 2205 Vista Way in Oceanside. U.S. Bank employees will
volunteer at the distribution centers to assist with the event and
personally thank families for their sacrifice on behalf of the nation.
Families must register at www.operationhomefront.net/sandiego to
receive school supplies at the distributions. Only military families
E6 and below and children in grades K-12 are eligible to sign up for
this program, and military identification is required on distribution
day to show eligibility.
