Leading Shopping Center Owners and Managers Launch Charitable Campaign To Benefit Families of Public Safety Officers Lost in the September 11 Terrorist Attacks

INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading shopping center owners and managers across the country today announced the launch of the "United We Stand" charitable campaign at more than 415 shopping centers in 44 states, as well as Washington, D.C. metro area and Puerto Rico. All funds raised during the campaign will be donated to a group of funds that support the families of public safety officers who lost their lives in the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York City, as well as public agencies that responded to the attack on the Pentagon.

The funds that have been selected to receive contributions from this campaign are The EMS Memorial Foundation, Patrolmen's Benefit Association Widows' & Children's Fund, Port Authority Police World Trade Disaster Survivors' Fund and Uniformed Firefighters Association Widows' & Children's Fund. Monetary funds will also be contributed to public agencies that responded to the attack on the Pentagon.

Each of the participating shopping center owners and managers involved in the campaign, including CBL & Associates Properties, Inc., Coyote Management, L.P., Jones Lang LaSalle, The Macerich Company, Richard E. Jacobs Group, The Rouse Company, Simon Property Group, Taubman Centers, Inc., and Westfield America, Inc., will host the special fundraising campaign at their properties from Thursday, October 11 through Wednesday, October 31. Throughout the campaign, consumers across the country will be encouraged to visit the participating shopping centers in their area to make a contribution to the campaign through their participation in special events, sales or promotions. Additionally, renowned American actress Elizabeth Taylor has generously agreed to appear in public service announcements for the "United We Stand" campaign that will air throughout the country.

Beginning Thursday, October 11, consumers will be able to purchase a "United We Stand" 2002 Calendar which features images of the American flag. The calendars will be available at each participating shopping center in their area. Proceeds from the sales of the calendars, which retail for $10, will be donated to the funds.

Participating shopping center owners and managers also established United for America, Inc., a not-for-profit charity, in October 2001 to serve as the third-party administrator of the "United We Stand" campaign.
