Unprecedented Campaign Changes the Face of Mall Advertising
INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- As the bull sizes up the heifer; as the hound looks longingly at the hydrant; so too go shoppers with a passion for "more choices" in their mall. That's the positioning of a groundbreaking new advertising campaign from Simon Property Group, Inc. (NYSE: SPG), which has staked its claim as a category leader and champion of mall shopping.
The provocative television spots, designed to advocate mall shopping, will air for the first time September 20. The first two commercials, one focusing on the bull's quest for love and the other a mongrel's journey for relief, illustrate the appeal of having choices and the desire for variety.
"This campaign promotes not only the diversity of offerings that Simon Malls bring consumers, but mall shopping in general," said Stewart Stockdale, Simon's chief marketing officer and president of Simon Brand Ventures. "The mall is really our modern day marketplace, and Simon's new campaign is about celebrating that marketplace, promoting the many different malls in the Simon franchise, and reminding the consumer of all the choices they have at the mall."
The daring campaign changes the paradigm of mall advertising, Stockdale said, in that it breaks with television spots and features both Simon and its individual mall properties by name.

"The vast and unique offerings of each Simon mall drive the 100 million consumers who together make approximately 2 billion visits to our malls each year." Simon's network of 239 shopping venues includes more than 3,900 distinct retailers and thousands of name brands in those malls.
