Jules B. Kroll, Founder of Kroll, to Depart MMC

NEW YORK, June 13, 2008 — Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. (MMC) today announced that Jules B. Kroll, the founder of Kroll, will retire from MMC in July.

"As one of the founding fathers of the modern intelligence and security industry, Jules Kroll has made enormous contributions to the field of risk mitigation," said Brian Duperreault, President and CEO of MMC. "His legacy is a firm that is a world leader in its area of expertise. We have benefited greatly from Jules' guidance and leadership and wish him well in the future."

Mr. Kroll said: "After more than 35 years as a steward of Kroll, I have decided to move on and pursue other personal and professional interests. I am extremely proud of the team we assembled at Kroll and what we have accomplished over these many years. I leave MMC confident in the knowledge that Kroll is well situated under its leadership."

Mr. Kroll indicated his future plans include increased involvement in higher education. He is currently Chairman of the Board of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and is deeply involved in his alma maters of Georgetown Law School and Cornell University. In addition, he plans to complete a book on the creation of Kroll and the industry it pioneered.

Jules Kroll founded Kroll Associates in 1972 as a consultant to corporate purchasing departments. Over the years, the company became one of the world's premier firms specializing in risk mitigation, including in the areas of forensic accounting, data recovery, employee screening, and corporate risk assessment and consulting.

Mr. Kroll received a B.A. degree from Cornell University in 1963 and an LL.B degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1966. He was admitted to the New York Bar in 1967 and began his career as an assistant district attorney in Manhattan.
