Lionbridge Logoport Translation Memory System Grows 200% Since the Start of 2006

Largest web-based multilingual data repository in the world now securely

manages and dynamically updates up to 1.5 million words a day for Lionbridge

                                   clients

WALTHAM, Mass., July 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Lionbridge Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: LIOX) today announced that the volume of words managed by Logoport(TM), the linguistic engine behind the company's Freeway(TM) operational platform, has more than doubled over the past six months in response to client demand.

"Logoport is now the world's largest web-based implementation of language technology," says Rory Cowan, CEO and Chairman, Lionbridge. "The incredibly fast expansion of the system is a testament to the power of a web-based architecture. This growth just would not have been possible in a distributed client-server or desktop environment. Coupled with the interactive features of Freeway, this performance further underscores the rapid move towards software-as-a-service solutions in the language industry."

Lionbridge clients have reaped substantial benefits in the first half of the year as they migrate their legacy TMs into the Logoport environment:

    * Accelerated turn around times: A leading IT management system company
shaved a month off of their time to market by simultaneously engaging
four times as many translators per language within Logoport than was
previously possible in their old environment

    * Increased TM leverage: A leading Internet company who moved to Logoport
almost a year ago is now averaging 5-10% increases in their reuse rate
on each project by maximizing the potential contained within their 150+
      individual TMs

    * Quality enhancements: One software client has seen a 50% improvement in
consistency through the use of embedded glossaries and translator
      collaboration

As the linguistic backbone of Freeway, Logoport runs as a single instance of code across a redundant server array housed in two secure centers in Europe and the US. Using industry standard formats such as TMX, hundreds of individual TMs are being imported into Logoport each day, with total capacity now approaching 1 billion total words under management. More than 1,000 unique daily users from multiple countries generate more than 40 million database queries per hour with no degradation to system performance. New features added since the start of the year include a Quality Assurance Framework, support for Indic languages, as well as a new native XLIFF editor.

"We are very pleased with the customer and translator response to Logoport this year and the value it is generating for our clients," said Joachim Schurig, Lionbridge Technology Fellow. "The platform has scaled well and now processes about 1.5 million words per day. With its unique web environment, we have been able to quickly expand the infrastructure to serve all the new users without any disruptions to our production efforts."

Access to Logoport is offered for free to Lionbridge clients and translators through the Freeway platform. Logoport's unique on-demand architecture enables the simultaneous use of a network of multiple TMs on a single project and facilitates real-time collaboration among all project participants. With no files to download or maintain, new translated content is immediately available to all translators, dramatically improving turn-around time, increasing consistency and quality and eliminating redundant work.
