Veeco Appoints New EVP, Global Field Operations

WOODBURY, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 6, 2006--Veeco Instruments Inc. (Nasdaq: VECO) today announced that it has appointed Benjamin Loh Gek Lim to the newly created position of Executive Vice President of Global Field Operations, which includes management of Veeco's global sales and service organization. Mr. Loh was formerly Senior Vice President of Veeco's Asia Pacific Operations. Veeco also announced that John Bulman, formerly head of worldwide sales for Veeco, will assume the key position of Senior Vice President, North American and Worldwide Sector Sales.

Prior to joining Veeco in 2005, Mr. Loh was SVP of Asia and President of Unaxis Shanghai. Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Loh has worked in a number of positions of increasing responsibility spanning most of Asia, including Singapore, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and China.
