What is RSS?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a service that allows Web content to be shared automatically with subscribers. You can use news reader software or a Web-based news aggregator service to subscribe to a feed. When you subscribe, you will be able to see when a news release is posted, view the headline and a brief summary and link to the full content of each release.
What is an RSS Reader?
Also known as a news reader or an RSS aggregator, this software collects and displays RSS feeds for ease of reading. A news reader allows you to scan headlines from a number of news sources in a central location.
Advantages of RSS
  • An RSS reader can collect content from multiple sites and display it in one place
  • RSS feeds are private; you never have to provide an e-mail address
  • Old items are automatically deleted when RSS feeds are updated, so there is no maintenance required on your part
