AMARILLO, Texas, Oct 01, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --
Hastings Entertainment, Inc. (Nasdaq: HAST), a leading multimedia entertainment superstore retailer, has once again partnered with its customers to support literacy by collecting donations at its retail superstores. Each retail superstore collected customer donations, and to celebrate "Book Month" in October, each superstore will donate these funds to its local literacy council. After collecting approximately $76,000 in 2009, Hastings is excited to announce that we have collected approximately $80,000 in 2010 to support local literacy councils in the cities of each of our superstore locations.
For over ten years, Hastings has maintained an active involvement in the fight against illiteracy. Hastings believes that by fostering local efforts to combat illiteracy through collecting donations from customers and making direct contributions, we can help make a difference in every community we serve.
