NEW YORK , July 1, 2009 – The New York Times News Service announced today it will significantly enhance its online offering to clients and now allow newspapers to post content online without first publishing it in a print edition.
The new offering will include feeds of NYTimes.com content that will update each time a new story is pushed through the feed. This offer will supplement the current wire service which includes content from New York Times and other publishers. A separate photo and a separate graphics service will also be offered for online use.
“We are delighted to introduce this upgrade,” said Cristian Edwards, president of The New York Times News Services Division. “As the news cycle speeds up, we are working to provide our clients with faster news and increased publishing rights.”
The new offering includes rights to publish NYTimes.com material that does not appear in the print edition of The New York Times. Clients can now publish 20 articles on a daily basis on their Web sites and The Times places no restriction on when articles can be published. Articles may stay on Web sites for up to seven days. Magazine content and blogs are excluded from the offering.
