BOSTON, Oct 23, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Boston Globe Media announced today the publication of the premiere
issue of Design New England: The Magazine of Splendid Homes and
Gardens. The 108-page magazine has been mailed to 40,000 high
net-worth households within Greater Boston and a list of 4,500
architects, custom builders, interior designers, materials suppliers
and retailers. Additionally, 11,000 copies are available through
newsstands and airports.
The issue presents some of the most beautifully designed homes and
gardens in New England, including features on the sleek modern
architecture of a Penobscot Bay home; the interior design of a Boston
apartment that showcases museum-quality art; and a stunning garden in
Dover, MA that has as its focal point an incredibly detailed stone
folly of New England fieldstone.
In a note to readers, Editor Jill Connors commented, "In covering
the stunning interiors, architecture, and gardens being created today
in New England, I marvel at the fact that this part of the country
contains the roots of America's most iconic architectural forms - from
practical saltbox to stately Georgian mansions. And I delight in the
tidbits that we discover."
The glossy oversized magazine also includes sophisticated looks at
kitchen and bath design, antiques, wood floors, crown moldings, table
lamps and other interior design elements that create a home's
distinctive style. The views of several prominent designers can be
found throughout. In one feature, designer David Webster shares his
thoughts on Boston's morphing design identity.
Advertising within the premiere issue exceeded expectations, with
high-end advertisers representing a full range of categories,
including architects, custom builders, interior designers, home
furnishing retailers, materials suppliers, and appliance and
electronics vendors. "Design New England has been well received by
advertisers whose services appeal to an audience with sophisticated
tastes," said Samuel P. Martin, Chief Advertising Officer of Boston
Globe Media.
Design New England will publish six times in 2007, with its next
issue in January, and can also be found at www.designnewengland.com.
The magazine is part of Boston Globe Media's efforts to create a
diverse portfolio of media products. Jay Fogarty, vice president of
Strategic Planning for Boston Globe Media, states, "Design New England
is the first of several niche publications we plan to publish to
satisfy the needs of many businesses that need to reach deep into
narrow audience segments."
