Millennium, Analysis Group, Boston Harbor Hotel and Globoforce
Named Top Employers; Fifth Annual Magazine out this Sunday
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 1, 2012--
The Boston Globe once again turns its spotlight on the region’s best
employers in its Top Places to Work magazine, which will appear in The
Boston Sunday Globe on November 4. This year, Millennium, the Analysis
Group and the Boston Harbor Hotel won the highest marks, with Globoforce
topping the magazine’s new small business category for organizations
with 50 to 99 employees. The issue will also be featured on BostonGlobe.com
and Boston.com.
This is the popular 44-page magazine’s fifth year of honoring the
state’s most beloved workplaces based on surveys of the people who know
best -- the employees themselves.
“When we launched in 2008 during the Great Recession, we wondered if
employers would lose focus on keeping their employees happy,” Boston
Globe Business Editor Shirley Leung said. “But businesses have continued
to make strides in employee appreciation and opportunities. With more
than 300 companies surveyed this year, we saw our highest participation
rate to date.”
Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Co., with about 1,200 employees in
Cambridge, ranks number one in the largest employer category. Owned by
Japan’s Takeda Pharmaceutical Co., Millennium retains workers by valuing
collaboration and cross-cultural sensitivity.
Analysis Group, number one in the large category, provides employees
with plenty of mentoring and opportunities to further their studies. The
Boston consultancy, with about 275 employees, provides economic analysis
and expert testimony to law firms.
The Boston Harbor Hotel topped the medium category for treating its
roughly 200 Boston employees as well as it treats its VIP guests. The
five-star property rewards employees who go above-and-beyond in customer
service.
Globoforce, the number one small employer, extends its product to its
own workforce. The Southborough firm not only manages workplace
appreciation programs for other companies but also utilizes the same
rewards program to boost its own morale.
In addition to the rankings, the magazine highlights creative corporate
perks from working vacations in Crete to free lunches from food trucks.
The Boston Globe’s 2012 Top Places to Work survey was conducted by
WorkPlace Dynamics of Exton, Pa., specialists in employee engagement and
retention. The Globe invited 1,586 employers to participate in the
survey; 304 organizations employing a total of 210,000 people completed
the process. Completed surveys were received from 81,907 individuals,
who rated their employers based on workplace practices in compensation,
leadership, appreciation, career opportunities and management.
