Amerada Hess Announces a 100% Increase in Regular Quarterly Dividend on Common Stock

At today's meeting of the Board of Directors of Amerada Hess Corporation (NYSE:
AHC), a regular quarterly dividend of 30 cents per share was declared payable
on the Common Stock of the Corporation on March 30, 2001 to holders of record
at the close of business on March 19, 2001. This is a 100% increase in the regular
quarterly dividend from the 15 cents per share previously paid.
The Corporation said that the action by the Board of Directors reflects the Corporation's
continuing commitment to increase current returns to shareholders, the Corporation's
sound financial condition and the positive outlook for the future.
