TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 2, 2012-- TECO Energy (NYSE: TE) has named Evelyn Follit to the board of directors and its Audit Committee. Like other TECO Energy directors, she also will serve on the board of the company’s principal subsidiary, Tampa Electric Company.

Follit has more than 20 years’ experience in leadership positions with major corporations in the areas of information technology, human resources and operations management.

TECO Energy Executive Chairman Sherrill Hudson said, “Evelyn is a proven leader, with decades of experience in corporate technology and strategy, and she is an excellent addition to our board.”

Since 2007, Follit has run Follit Associates, a consulting practice specializing in corporate technology assessment and executive career strategy. She previously worked for RadioShack Corp., where she held executive positions including senior vice president, chief organizational enabling services officer and chief information officer. Prior to joining RadioShack, Follit served as vice president of Global Operations Engineering for A.C. Nielsen. She worked at The Dun & Bradstreet Corp. for a dozen years, most recently as global leader of technology and planning. She also previously worked at ITT and IBM.

Follit has a Master of Business Administration in finance and information systems from Pace University, and a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from City University of New York.

Follit also is a member of the boards of directors of Bealls Inc., where she also serves on the Audit and Compensation committees, and of Winn-Dixie Stores Inc., where she also serves on the Audit Committee.
