| Standex Appoints Tom Smid as New President of Air Distribution Products Group |
SALEM, N.H., Nov 01, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Standex International Corporation (NYSE:SXI) today announced that Thomas Smid, 45, has joined the Company as president of the Air Distribution Products Group. Smid replaces Paul Schornack, who is retiring. Smid had served as president of Hubbell Steel, a division of publicly held Gibraltar Industries, since 2002. Hubbell Steel is a steel service center selling galvanized, acrylic coated and other steel products into a wide variety of industries. As president of Hubbell Steel, Smid substantially grew sales and improved operating profit. Prior to joining Hubbell Steel, he held a series of positions of increasing responsibility during his 18-year tenure at J&F Steel Corporation, culminating with his appointment as general manager. "Tom's 20 years of experience in senior management and sales in the steel and steel fabricating arena make him a strong addition to the Standex management team," said Roger Fix, president and chief executive officer.
