Standex Names Leslie Dietzman President of Its Berean Religious Bookstore Chain

Veteran Retailer Joins Berean with 37 Years of Experience; Led Nation's Largest Christian Bookseller

Standex International Corporation (NYSE:SXI) today announced that its Berean Religious Bookstore Chain has hired Leslie Dietzman as the division's president.

"Les Dietzman is a highly regarded retailing executive," said Roger Fix, president and CEO of Standex. "After spending more than two decades with two of the nation's most prominent retailers, Dayton Hudson and Wal-Mart, Les focused his experience and vision on the Christian retail bookstore market niche, where he headed the industry's largest religious bookstore chain for 10 years. We are delighted that he will now become a member of our management team."

Randy Scott, group vice president, added, "Since joining Standex in December 2002, I have been actively engaged in repositioning the platform of businesses in our Consumer Products Group as part of a corporate-wide Restructuring and Realignment program. With that program substantially completed, we are now able to commit the necessary resources to build a more robust retail operation at Berean. There is no one better qualified to manage Berean at this time than Les Dietzman."

"Retailing is one of those careers of which it is said, 'Once it is in your blood, it never leaves you,'" said Dietzman. "The religious retailing business continues to entice me, and I look forward to the challenge of expanding Berean's presence in the marketplace."

Prior to joining Berean, Dietzman served 10 years as president and CEO of Family Christian Stores in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he tripled the store count to more than 300 in 39 states. Earlier he served as vice president and general merchandise manager of Wal-Mart Stores and was responsible for all merchandising of toys, automotive supplies and automobile centers. Dietzman began his career at Dayton-Hudson and held merchandising management positions at the company's J.L. Hudson and Mervyns chains. He holds a B.S. in Education from Greenville College and an M.B.A. from the Advanced Management Program at Michigan State University.
